What is Dewa
DEWA stands for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. Established on January 1, 1992, DEWA is a publicly owned utility company. It encompasses a wide range of technological advancements, from energy generation and smart homes to big data management, addressing challenges, and creating opportunities within the utility sector. DEWA’s scope includes billing, customer and supplier metrics, energy consumption analysis, and production. As the sole provider of electricity, sewerage, and water in Dubai, DEWA holds a pivotal role. By April 2015, DEWA had reached a capacity of 9,656 MW of electricity and 470 million gallons of desalinated water per day, with plans to increase this to over 10,000 MW by 2018. DEWA has also incorporated solar power into its energy mix, including an 800 MW solar plant set to be completed by 2020. Furthermore, DEWA is embarking on a multifaceted plan to launch a 250MW capacity pumped-storage hydroelectricity project in Hatta. With a workforce exceeding 9,000 employees, DEWA serves more than 600,000 electricity and 500,000 water customers.
Why Opt for DEWA?
DEWA’s vision centers around becoming a Sustainable Innovative World-Class Utility, driven by a commitment to offering world-class customer service. To fulfill this vision, DEWA has formulated updated guidelines for the submission of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) as part of the DEWA approval process. The following types of approvals are granted through DEWA’s application process:
Building NOC:
This application service is free, though certain aspects may incur charges. It enables registered contractors to secure electricity/water NOCs necessary for obtaining building permits.
DEWA Application for Electricity or Water Connection:
This service assists customers in acquiring electricity or water connections. Customers can complete a detailed DEWA application form through the ‘One Window System’ using their User ID and Password. The DEWA authority reviews these applications to confirm DEWA Approval. While the application service is free, the actual connection service may involve charges.
Fit-Out Application for DEWA Approval:
This free-of-cost service empowers customers to obtain fit-out power connections for their shops and offices.
Infrastructure Request for Electricity and Water:
The Infrastructure and Information Departments allow enrolled contractors to submit online applications for Electricity and Water Infrastructure Services. While the application process incurs no fees, the services themselves may involve charges.
Obtaining DEWA approval can be a complex endeavor, demanding the submission of various documents and potentially causing inconvenience.
Dubai Approvals Team simplifies this process, securing all necessary DEWA Approvals within a short timeframe. Our highly adept professionals also offer a variety of other approvals within Dubai.
